Safe Dip: A Safety-Oriented Hot-Dip Pick-and-Place System

Safe Dip is a two-axis Cartesian gantry that automates the pick, dip, and place cycle for hot-dip coating operations, reducing operator exposure to heat and repetitive strain. An STM32 microcontroller coordinates motion, a conventional electromagnet handles ferromagnetic workpieces, and a time-of-flight sensor confirms part presence at each station. Safety is built in from the ground up: a hardwired emergency-stop circuit cuts motor power independently of the microcontroller, while the electromagnet stays on a separate supply so a suspended part is never accidentally dropped mid-stop. The laboratory prototype demonstrates the full mechanical, electrical, sensing, control, and communication integration, with calculations supporting scalability toward a 10 kg payload.

That’s roughly the same length/tone as the “OUR PROJECT IS OPEN SOURCE!” blurb on the right side of the page, so it should balance the layout well. Want me to shorten it further, or adjust the tone to sound more casual/marketing-style versus technical?
